Denton Adams, born Adam Denton Smith, graduated from the Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, DC in 1999. He went on to receive a BFA in Directing from NC School of the Arts -School of Filmmaking in May 2005.
Denton produced and directed the feature film, "ViewFinder," which had its red carpet premiere in the summer of 2006 at Washington DC's historic Avalon Theatre. He has also completed several student films, two of which were shot on 16mm Film; founded the production company, Checkmate Studios, LLC in 2005; and has produced several independent shorts, including one for Howard University in Washington, DC in 2007.
With over thirty feature length screenplays completed, Denton is currently focused on the independent realm of filmmaking. He aims to keep creative control of his projects, and in the future secure financial backing or collaborate with a major industry production studio.
